L. van Beethoven - Symphony No. 3 in E flat major "Eroica" 11 - 17 November 2009
Coming back to the "Eroica" after working on other Beethoven symphonies and carrying on the study of classical style, was from some aspects like facing it for the first time. But Beethoven's shoulders are big enough to stand the more different approaches, even the more awkward.
Thanks to Lorenzo Coppola's help again (he held an exciting class for the audience that remained after the dress rehearsal), we tried to work on tempo flexibility, phrasing proportions, metronome analysis, and trying nonetheless to give back a human representation of the work, because the passions and the suggestions that inspired its birth were so human.
