We had probably been too ambitious in choosing such a long and deep work before having the chance to get used to the completely new things we learnt in Barcelona in the previous project, but love for this symphony dazzled us and we couldn't do anything else than work very hard too try and climb this mountain. The peak stayed hidden by clouds: we all realized that getting up there was beyond our possibilities. That was a great experience too! After 7 days of full time Eroica practicing and performing the only thing we wanted to do was… practice and perform Eroica, again!
With our heads full of new information after the first "period instruments' experience", we decided to approach a monumental symphony like Beethoven 3. We were guests of a little Festival in the hills around Parma, who were providing us with a nice building to rehearse and live in, with rooms, kitchen, a much too small rehearsal hall… and a football field where boys (and some girls) spent their breaks. A woman from the town even came to cook for us!
