We come back to Robert Schumann's Third Symphony, which we had left in 2015 full of unresolved doubts and unanswered questions: the depth and complexity of the chapters of this symphonic tale had at times overwhelmed us. Today, once again, the challenge is to find the measure between passionate emotional momentum, intimate expression, sacred solemnity and light and playful atmospheres, without forgetting the analytical insight necessary to move through this great score. We approach this piece again with the help of a great conductor: Gustav Mahler! In fact, the Bohemian composer produced an edition of all of Schumann's symphonies, retouching the orchestration in numerous passages, thus sculpting their contours and giving them his own personal interpretation.Through Mahler's lens we will once again observe this music, and it will be this new perspective that will lead us into the flooding river of Schumann's ideas and feelings.
