Spira mirabilis at Musikfest Bremen
1 - 10 September 2010
J. Brahms - Serenade No.1 in D major Op.11
L. Van Beethoven - Symphony No. 8 in F major Op. 93
The reason why we accepted Mr. Thomas Albert's invitation to play in Bremen is because we were allowed to do exactly what we have always done until now, with the same degree of freedom and artistic independence: taking our time to practice but at the same time enjoying the incredible support of a strong established institution that made every effort to make us feel at home. We stayed in Bremen for 10 days, bringing back the Brahms First Serenade that we studied in previously July; then returning to a piece which we performed with a completely new approach, with a much-changed and deepened understanding of the score as to when we studied it for the first time in February 2009: Beethoven's 8th symphony.
